Chey watched Gary pace back and forth in the big cage, tail a flat line, an extension of the wolf’s spine. The new ones always changed early, and man, had it been a bitch to get Gary to come with him to the warehouse in the first place. He’d had to whack the guy and drag his unconscious body into the cage.
“Hey, I kept telling you. Did you believe me?” Chey checked his watch and started to undress. He didn’t have to be caged anymore. He couldn’t control the change, but enough of his human consciousness stuck around that he wasn’t out killing big animals or people or whatever.
That would put an end to his career as a cop, for sure.
Gary barked, the sound frustrated and angry.
“I didn’t bite you, you know.” He would now, though.
Now that he knew the first bite had actually taken and that Gary was like him. His gut had known it, but it was always good to get confirmation before you got really bitey with your new lover.
Chey paused, grinning, his hands on his belt. “Lover. I like that. You and me, Gary. I gotta say, I’m kinda grateful to the guy who bit you. Now I don’t have to lie and tell you I’m working double shifts.”
One wolfy eyebrow lifted, then Gary’s lip curled and a very loud, very distinct sound came from behind his mate, followed immediately by a foul stench. Whoa. Doritos.
Bad.
“Remind me to make sure you only eat organic the day before the moon.” Chey finished stripping off. “Promise not to rush the door and I’ll come in there with you instead of going for a run.”
Gary harrumphed, but settled, muzzle on his paws.
Chey had to admit, the man had gone lupine like a pro.
Must be in the bones. Or maybe it was all the video games.
Pretending to be someone you weren’t helped you adjust, right? Or something.
He dropped the rest of his clothes and unhooked the cage lock, stepping in and locking it behind him. There were blankets, pillows, food and water. They’d be fine until morning. The moon shone through the high windows, pale but there, making his neck itch.
“Almost there, babe. You ready to play?”
Gary’s eyes were on him, then that tail started to twitch, sliding on the floor for about a second before Gary’s butt started wagging too.
Yeah. Someone was ready to go to town. He had to say that for Gary. The man was up for almost anything, and had proven that in the sack for the last four days.
Chey couldn’t wait to see what Gary could do with a big ol’ crate.
Doggie Style
“What am I supposed to do with this?” Ray stared down at the hairy behemoth his adopted sister had just brought in on a catch leash.
“Dress it up.” Allie grinned at him, holding out the nylon rope. “He’s got twenty-four hours before they euthanize him. We’re trying to get him a stay of execution by doing a news piece on him.
The dog was enormous.
